Why Sohit?

Sohit Karol specializes in unraveling the nuances of human behavior to inform product development and market development strategies and enable engineering teams to embrace Human-Centered Design processes.

Sohit has consulted VCs, C-Level Executives and entrepreneurs on topics ranging from Customer Segmentation, Personas, Jobs To Be Done, Behavior Design, Embedding and Scaling User Research. He has mentored MBA students from leading institutes like Harvard Business School and Chicago Booth on topics related to Customer Development and Product Discovery. Most recently, he collaborated with the team of Nobel Laureate Richard Thaler and Professor Linnea Gandhi at the Chicago Booth School of Business and mentored four MBA students for 9 months as a part of the course entitled Choice Architecture in Practice (CAP).

Sohit’s current research informs different aspects of flagship Machine Learning based listening experiences on Spotify including products like Discover Weekly and Daily Mix. In the prior role at Microsoft, he managed the research portfolio for multi-modal input interactions and presented several strategic reports on competitive devices to the CEO Satya Nadella's office. Sohit shares a patent for touchpad gestures on Windows 10 that is currently deployed on more than 500 Million laptops and has 10 peer-reviewed journal publications and 21 conference papers in the field of neuroscience and human factors engineering.

Sohit holds a Post-Doc in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health, a Ph.D. in Kinesiology (Applied Neuroscience) from the University of Maryland and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, India.
